Israeli Raids Intensify Across West Bank

(MENAFN) Israeli military units detained no fewer than 17 Palestinians—including two women and a minor—and destroyed a residential property in the West Bank on Wednesday, marking a continued surge in tensions across the occupied region, as reported by local authorities.

According to a statement from the Prisoners’ Media Office, Israeli soldiers conducted operations in several locations throughout the West Bank, during which they apprehended “at least 17 Palestinians, including two women and child.”

These incursions reportedly involved house raids, thorough searches, and the destruction of personal possessions. The activities were primarily centered in Nablus, Bethlehem, Hebron, and Ramallah.

In a separate incident, Israeli troops imposed a closure on the town of Turmus Ayya, situated northeast of Ramallah, by obstructing all entry points with dirt barriers, effectively cutting it off from neighboring communities. This information was shared by local official Abdullah Awad.

“Israeli forces stormed the town at dawn with military bulldozers and closed all roads, including main, secondary and agricultural routes, leaving no access in or out,” Awad said.

He further noted that daily life within the town had come to a standstill, describing movement as “completely paralyzed.” Educational institutions and essential services were disrupted, while nearby zones reportedly faced assaults by Israeli settlers, who also uprooted olive groves and blocked farmers from accessing their agricultural land.

Turmus Ayya is home to approximately 4,000 inhabitants, based on available local statistics.
