Germany Urges Israel to Boost Gaza Aid, Warns Against West Bank Annexation

(MENAFN) Germany’s foreign minister on Tuesday called on Israel to significantly scale up humanitarian assistance to Gaza and cautioned against actions that could effectively amount to annexation in the occupied West Bank, according to reports.

Speaking in Berlin alongside Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Johann Wadephul reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to Israel’s security while expressing concern over current policies. He said discussions included the situation in Gaza and emphasized that “the plight of the more than two million people in the Gaza Strip, which has not improved, must not be overshadowed by the conflict in Iran.”

Wadephul stressed that humanitarian conditions in Gaza require urgent attention, urging expanded aid access, the opening of additional border crossings, and greater freedom for aid organizations to operate effectively.

He also encouraged progress on implementing US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace initiative, as stated by reports.
