Israel Greenlights 126 Settlement Units in West Bank's Jenin
The approval targets the Sanur settlement, which was evacuated under Israel's 2005 disengagement plan — making the move a pointed reversal of that withdrawal.
"Twenty years after its evacuation, a plan has been approved to build 126 permanent homes in Sanur settlement," Israeli media reported.
Yossi Dagan, head of the regional council representing settlements across the northern West Bank, made clear the ambitions extend well beyond the immediate construction phase, declaring that Sanur "will be rebuilt."
"It will include 126 permanent homes, and in the future it will become a city in Israel," he added.
The decision draws renewed international scrutiny to Israel's settlement policy in the West Bank, with the construction of such units widely regarded as illegal under international law. The approval comes amid heightened tensions across the territory and escalating pressure from the international community over the expansion of Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian lands.
