Gaza Mother Reunites With Infant Daughter After Two-Year

(MENAFN) A Palestinian woman in Gaza has been reunited with her daughter after two years of separation caused by the ongoing war, bringing an emotional end to a long and uncertain search for the child’s survival.

Sundus Al-Kurd was reunited with her infant daughter, Bisan, in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, where the two embraced outside a temporary shelter. The reunion marked a deeply emotional moment after years of displacement and uncertainty.

Al-Kurd described the moment she learned her daughter was alive as overwhelming, saying: “When they told me she was alive, I couldn’t believe it. I felt like life had returned to me again.”

At first, the child appeared unsure and distant, observing her mother cautiously before gradually beginning to respond to her presence.

The mother’s ordeal began in October 2023 while she was eight months pregnant in her home in Jabalia in northern Gaza, when an airstrike dramatically altered her life, according to reports.

She said she suffered devastating personal losses at that time, including members of her immediate family, while also sustaining severe injuries.

She was later taken to Al-Shifa Hospital, where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section to deliver her baby, who was placed in intensive care alongside other premature infants.

Shortly after, as military operations intensified and hospitals came under pressure, she was forced to leave the facility while still recovering from her injuries, resulting in her separation from her newborn daughter.
