US Advises Americans to Leave Several Middle East Countries
In a security alert, the department named Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the occupied West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen as affected locations. Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar called on Americans to “depart now” using available commercial transportation.
The advisory follows joint US-Israeli strikes launched Saturday against Iran, which reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior security officials. In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and US assets in the region, leading several Gulf states to close their airspace.
Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that six US service members have been killed during the third day of the joint military campaign.
