US Schedules Gaza Leaders’ Summit to Support Ceasefire, Reconstruction

(MENAFN) The White House is reportedly planning a leaders’ summit for the Gaza “Board of Peace” on February 19, aimed at advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and raising funds for reconstruction in the war-torn Palestinian territory, according to reports citing US and diplomatic sources.

“It will be the first Board of Peace meeting and a fundraising conference for Gaza reconstruction,” a US official told reports.

The Trump administration has begun contacting dozens of countries to invite leaders and coordinate logistics, with the summit expected to take place at the Institute of Peace in Washington. “Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders are able to attend,” a source said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on February 18, a day before the summit. While Netanyahu has accepted the invitation for Israel to join the board, he has not yet signed its charter. If he attends, it would be his first public meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders since the October 7 attack by Hamas and the subsequent Israeli operations in Gaza.

Officials caution that the summit plans are still in early stages and may change. The White House declined to comment on the reports.
