Israeli Police Arrest Suspects in West Bank Attack
The suspects were among at least six individuals captured on CCTV footage from the family’s residence in as-Samu, located in the Hebron governorate in the southern West Bank. The video, which circulated on social media, showed the attackers beating sheep and vandalizing property during a nighttime raid.
Family members were hospitalized after suffering from pepper spray inhalation and other injuries, according to a statement from Israeli police.
The Ynet news site reported that some of the sheep were killed and others mutilated. Meanwhile, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz noted that the same family had been targeted last month, when masked settlers abused lambs, killed several, and damaged the house.
Palestinians in the West Bank have faced intensified Israeli military operations alongside a surge in settler violence since October 2023.
Data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs revealed that nearly 7,500 raids by Israeli forces into Palestinian towns and villages have taken place since the start of 2025—a 37 percent increase compared with the same period in 2024. More than 1,700 settler attacks, averaging five per day, have also been documented this year, resulting in casualties, forced displacement, and property destruction across over 270 communities. Over 200 Palestinians, including children, have been killed in these incidents.
